Education Initiatives
The only factor that can bring about social change is education. BJS has worked in education from three perspectives, providing a set of interventions for students' learning, improving educational institutions' quality and providing intervention programs, and contributing to social causes through these educational institutions. Following its core work in disaster response and social initiatives, BJS began working with a strong focus on education initiatives with all of these perspectives in the first decade of the twenty-first century. BJS decided to work on School Education to improve the quality of education during and after disaster response, has created a niche in rehabilitating disaster-affected children for their education since 1993, and having established a permanent Wagholi Educational Rehabilitation Center (WERC). Mr. Shantilal Muttha came up with the idea for EDUQIP (Educational Quality Improvement Programme), a collection of programs that address the needs of various stakeholders such as students, teachers, principals, governing bodies, and authorities.
In 2003, Shri. Shantilal Muttha launched a new BJS initiative, the Federation of Jain Educational Institutions (FJEI), to bring together thousands of Jain educational institutions under one umbrella for collective strength, with the vision of contributing to nation-building and the goal of transforming these charity institutions into quality institutions.
Education is the only key factor that can bring in social transformation. BJS Delhi has worked in education from three perspectives:
- A set of interventions for students’ learning,
- Improving quality and providing intervention programs to educational institutions,
- Contributing to the social causes through these educational institutions.
With the belief and complete conviction to make a fundamental contribution to the domain of education and to bring in revolutionary changes in school education with the objective of transforming India's school educational system, Shri. Shantilal Muttha founded a not-for-profit organization in 2015. SMF is concentrating on scaling up BJS educational initiatives across the country, particularly for integration into the government system.
