The decade of ‘Techade’
Techade, a term popularized by India’s PM Narendra Modi, symbolizes India’s dream of technological advancements in the coming decade. It embodies two important words- technology and decade. In 2019, the United Nations highlighted the next ten years as the decade for taking action. The world has designated technology to play a crucial role in problem-solving and effective solutions in the future.
Reciprocating the world’s view of unlocking the real power of technology, Mr. Modi expressed hope of raising innovators in India as domestic patent filings soared higher than foreign patent filings in the country. Reference
The term techade signifies a decade of innovations and advanced technology for India. It nudges the world to realize the need for technological advancements in light of the recent pandemic. The pandemic highlighted the crucial role that technology can play to tackle the alarming challenges faced by humankind.
Mr. Modi seemed delighted while noting the significant achievements of India in the past five years. The country reached the seventh global rank in patent filing and accomplished the fifth rank for trademark registration. It is a fifty percent increase in registration numbers in the past few years. In addition, India jumped to 40 from 80 on the global innovation index. It is a massive improvement for the bussing innovator in India.
Following a similar pattern, the Indian Institute of Science announced 145 patents in 2022, which is a record-breaking number of patents for the institution.
For his ‘Mann Ki Baat” episode, Mr. Modi motivated more citizens to join the tech revolution in India and contribute to the Indian dream of ‘techade’. He also spoke about the tribal people winning Padma awards and encouraged people to appreciate this year’s winners.
